Fit Pregnancy Inspiration - Amy Williams MBE

Olympic athlete

Amy Williams was victorious in the women’s skeleton at the Vancouver Olympics, winning Britain’s first solo Winter Olympics gold medal for 30 years. She was awarded her MBE in the Queen’s Honours list and became the first ever female Freeman of the City of Bath. Now retired from competitive winter sports she is an active mother of two and a qualified personal fitness trainer.

Amy’s training routine during pregnancy

Despite Amy’s history as a top athlete, she describes her pregnancy exercise routine as one that could be easily followed by other expectant Mums – she walked as much as possible every day during pregnancy and aimed to fit in around three HIIT or body circuit sessions each week. A great believer in the benefits of prenatal yoga she attended classes regularly throughout her first pregnancy and ‘whenever she had childcare available’ when she was pregnant with her second baby, Alfie.

What FittaMamma maternity fitnesswear Amy wore

Amy wore the FittaMamma Ultimate Maternity Sportswear Top in Pink & Black, teamed with matching Ultimate Maternity Fitness leggings.

How our maternity fitnesswear worked for Amy Williams

Amy looked super-stylish in her supportive FittaMamma fitnesswear which provided plenty of support for her prenatal HIIT sessions and all the stretch and flexibility she needed for pregnancy yoga.  We love that she wore her distinctive FittaMamma activewear when she officially opened the new Team Bath gym and later when she was filmed demonstrating how yoga helped her to adapt to life and pregnancy.

A final word from Amy about exercising during pregnancy

There are always highs and lows of motivation, and fitness levels, especially when you’re pregnant – so it’s important not to be hard on yourself!  My recommendation for pregnancy exercise when you have a toddler as well is to aim for little and often.
